AFRE visual identity

About
AFRE is a local NGO operating in the Aparhant-Kisvejke region, one of the poorest areas in Hungary, focusing on providing after-school activities for (mostly) Roma children from the surrounding villages.

We heard about AFRE's innovative approach last year, and we decided to offer our help in designing a new visual identity for them. AFRE opted for retaining the main concept of their old logo ('flower petals') but we wanted to redefine it in a contemporary way, at the same time emphasizing its playful and diverse aspects. We believe that, in projects of this kind, involving the whole community in the process is key. Instead of designing a traditional visual identity (consisting of a logo, style guides etc.), we only designed the building blocks and let the community play with them: one example of this was a printing workshop we organised for the children, where they could prepare custom-made business cards for staff members or themselves, using rubber stamps.
